Jelka Godec Schmidt is a multilingual painter: on the one hand, her ‘settings and characters speak the language of ancient folk imagery, born a long time ago’, and on the other, her outstandingly modern illustrations speak to the child of the 21st century. She has also created Losey (Zguba), the lively elf who has been presenting children with visual tasks and challenges since the beginning of the millennium.
