Jelka Reichman is one of the best-known and most recognisable Slovenian illustrators of children’s literature. The illustrations she produces are unmistakably familiar to many generations of Slovenian children. The world she paints teems with merry, plump children and mischievous cats (including Purry the Puss – Maček Muri); it is a world free of serious conflict; bright, sweet, and at times slightly humorous.
